While no doubt people will jump to comparisons of Jay Retard, Home Blitz, and Kurt Vile, that is doing Young Governor a grave diservice. The perfect summer record just in time for summer, "Hidden Love" is the perfect blend of pop, singer songwriter, lo-fi, and dare we say folk. Ben Cook the mastermind behind it all has been a busy boy indeed. It's a wonder that he finds time to write and record not just Young Governor material but also releases music under the banner Bitters, all the while being a full time member of the much heralded outfit Fucked Up. Wonders will never cease and you will no doubt find yourself humming aloud the songs of pure pop class demonstrated here after just a few listens.
